One of the most famous American singers and actresses Whitney Houston has died in Los Angeles at the age of 48.
Police said she died in her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, where she had been staying as a guest.
Houston was one of the most celebrated female singers of all time, with hits including I Will Always Love You and Saving All My Love For You.
But her later career was overshadowed by substance abuse and her turbulent marriage to singer Bobby Brown.

Veteran actor and comedian, Sam Loco-Efe was found dead in his hotel room in Imo State. The cause of his death has not been disclosed.
NIGERIAN popular actor and comedian, Sam Loco-Efe is dead. Efe was found dead in his hotel room on Orlu Road, Owerri, capital of Imo State, on Sunday August 7.
The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Jingiri Abubakar, confirmed the death to journalists looking for clarification on the incident. He said the famous actor had been ill for sometime and had only come to the hotel to recuperate before continuing his entertainment business, before he suddenly died.
